Simple question: when did all of you see signs of croaking? I'm curious to see if there's an agreeable "time span where it starts". I haven't had a male frog yet, so this is something I honestly can't answer. My baby frog is right at a month old if I recall correctly, and I haven't heard any noise from it currently.
This is obviously growth from a fresh froglet, so keep that in mind also.
Don't recall in terms of weeks, but Stilgar was around 4.5 in. SVL when it croaked.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I got mine around a month old, and the first week I heard him croak. Two months later he's almost 4 inches and I hear him croak every night. He does it right in front of me sometimes but never when I'm trying to film him croaking.
I think I should also pitch in and say that croaking/calling/vocalizing isn't a sure fire sign that you've got a male, as my adult female has recently taught me. Though she only does it once or twice in a green moon (last night for instance), she made what sounded like a higher pitched version of a male's mating call. Completely surprised me as I've had her for around a few years and most of the time she's completely mute.
Not sure if this was from the frog, but it did come from that direction where the tank is. Sounded like a fat cats meow, heh. Only heard it once, and I am not sure what it was. Was loud enough to hear it, though.
Carlos is correct. Its about size rather than age. This goes for all frogs. The faster they grow the faster they reach sexual maturity.
