Once again we have frogs moving into the ruts made by the tractor tires, out at the farm.
Rana clamitans...
Female
Male ? Tough to judge by tympanums...? Maybe another female. I'm thinking male. Couldn't make out nuptial pads for sure. Any guesses?
Moved to a larger, safer puddle away from the tractors.
Freedom.

Nice job Heather. Love this pic:
.
There is a teacher that just joined forum and is looking for a couple of these frogs: http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...tml#post182485.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thanks!Such pretty frogs.
I'm not sure where you can get any captive bred. My local pet store occasionally sells Rana catesbeiana, but not often.

Carlos also picked out my favorite pic, that one's just too cute
Good work saving the frog, it might not like a meeting with the bush-hog and definitely wouldn't have enjoyed getting run over by the tractor. I'd guess female though, or maybe a younger male. In all the big breeding males I've found calling, I'm fairly certain there was no mistaking the large tympanum.
Thanks. That's my favorite too.
I would expect the tympanum to be bigger also. Odd to find only 2 females together and even more odd that the 2 are in the same puddle considering the larger puddle in the hay field is only about 50 yards or so from there. Either way, it was a nice surprise to find them.
