hey everyone... i just lifted the log in my toadlet habitat and i discovered three of my smallest toadlets laying there unable to move. they are alive but barely. they were all discolored, bright green and they are super stiff as they are moving around. i had put them in a tank filled with eco earth before, and read that it might be dangerous for them so i put them in a large plastic bin filled with wet paper towels. i fed them all in the previous enclosure and i think the substrate impacted them. all the larger ones seem to be doing fine, but these little guys i'm afraid, are dying. so my question is... do u guys think that the eco earth killed them? and if so, should i be worried about all my other ones? the ones that are sick are about half inch, while the others are closer to about 3/4 of an inch. please give me your opinion and/or advice. thanks so much
Did you use dechlorinator or spring water to moisten the coco fiber? And for their water bowl?
How about supplements? Calcium with vitamin D3? Multivitamin?
Try soaking them in very shallow dechlorinated tap water or spring water for about 15 minutes. Just enough for them to barely sit in.
I'll be watching for your answers.
My suspicion is not the Eco earth, but maybe dehydration, calcium deficiency, or chlorine/chloramine toxicity. We'll know more after your answers.

Hey heather I used dechlorinated water for substrate and water dish. No calcium powder yet, have been super busy but I will be picking up some very soon. I removed the paper towels from their new home, I heard most brands are dangerous since they are bleached. I even took out the old log and replaced it with a piece of driftwood. So yeah, I got them in a large plastic enclosure with no substrate, only driftwood and water dish... That's it. I'm too sketched out to add anything else in the enclosure. What do u think it was? Btw... It was actually 5 of them that were sick, I separated them from the others in a critter cage. Two died yesterday , but the other three seem to be doing much better, they are getting their golden skin tone back
It could be calcium deficiency or vitamin deficiency. It sounds like you're doing everything else right.

The ones that survived are doing great, thank u! I turned on a uv bulb on them for 10-12 hours a day and fed them calcium like I suggested, and they are all looking healthier than ever. Thanks again for ur warm concerns heather... You helped me and my toadies out a lot!
You're welcome . I hope they continue to do well for you.
