Can anyone answer this i have been looking on youtube at whites tree frogs and from what ive seen all the adolescent ones are green and the adults tend to be more brown is this right or do should they stay green and if not how do you get one that will stay green
When they get older they get more colour or they go brown
Monitor the temp really closely. I use $2.00 glass fish tank thermometers. I use them everywhere![]()

below- a different brand that comes with a little magnet - suspended from a plant. I have this in the middle of the red eye enclosure.

There are lots of threads on this here on FF ( thread with additional thread)

I have read that the higher the humidity, and lower the temp , the darker and browner their color may be?
vs
When the enclosures is a higher temp ( within their range) with less humidity, their color will be brighter.
Mood, stress, lighting, temps effect their color- it's normal
Temp should be 85 day and can reduce to 68 night.
This is,( I think ) and easy range to maintain with simple medium base plant bulb(s) used during the day on a timer and hand misting for the humidity.
Where as callidryas should never be kept at a temp that high , need more monitoring and just as many plants for cover.

If mine on are dark background, they stay brown, if on clear, light or green then green. I've read that temps, humidity play a factor in this, but all I've seen is pending where they are.

One of mine has taken to sitting in the water fountain all day while she sleeps, so half of her body is inside the fountain (in the dark) and her head and some of her body are out. When she wakes she's two colours, bright green on her top half and a duller green/brown colour on her bottom half. She looks so funny, you can see what I mean in my profile pic. I'll take a pic next time she come out and post it.
I've found that mine seems to depend on the temperature and where he is in the enclosure. If he's in one of his hiding spots, or it's cooler or less humid than normal he is very dark brown, but once he get's a hint of warmth, or is out and about or soaking he is very bright green.
