Hello SA and welcome to FF! Also a fish keeper with 50 years experience in FW and SW, mostly breeding SA & CA cichlids. Last year I got my first frog and after a break due to health reasons got me another one couple months ago. From reading your post can see you are still undecided so maybe want to take a look at these articles before taking the plunge. First this one to see if any species attracts you more than others: Frog Forum - Choosing a Frog . Then since you mentioned Grey's take a look at this one: Frog Forum - Gray Tree Frog Care and Breeding . For aquatics like ADF or the larger ACF this is good reading: http://www.frogforum.net/care-sheet-...warf-frog.html.

Mixing frogs and fish is a risky endeavor because they prey on each other and share many parasites which could get your frogs sick. Both ADF and the larger ACF do prefer zero to little current. What I've read some members do, is point the canister filter spraybar to glass wall and minimize currents that way. Be aware that both species require around 10-12 in. of max. water level above substrate so your filter needs to be able to handle that if in a tall tank.

IRT Clown Plecos (great little fish) maybe it will work with the ADF but not the ACF; which will grow large enough to try and eat a Clown Pleco with disastrous results for both. Plants will be fine with both aquatic species and if plants grow to top they will climb above them and hang around the leaf canopy.

Hope this info helps! I find frogs similar to fish and there are all kinds of them with very interesting behaviors and attitudes. Have a nice week !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

    Yep, undecided.
Looks like the aquatic frog/clown pleco combo might not work out. At the very least it seems the filter intake needs to be covered up to protect the frogs. And that potential parasite issue is probably not something I want to risk with my plecos.

As for the Grey tree frogs, if I am correct and they don't readily eat dried and prepared food, that makes them the kind of pet I'll have to re-home every time I leave. Leaving to go camping for two weeks during the summer is almost guaranteed.

I live alone and the fish here are left with automatic feeders when I go away. I've got two goals I'm training for right now; finishing the long trail and doing a cross state camping/bike trip. I can't have any critter during the summer hiking season that cannot be left during these times. I'm not sure how difficult these frogs are to re-home on a seasonal basis for backpacking.

You can quarantine your frogs (like with any fish addition) for 30 days to ensure they do not bring illness to tank. Other than ADF/ACF; most frogs and toads will need life moving foods to get a feeding response. Some can be trained to eat from tweezers and respond to moving "prey" by your hand movement. Re-homing a frog every time you go on vacation might not work out right, and you can't leave them on feeders like fish. Options available are to find someone to care for them while you are gone and I recommend that someone has amphibian or reptile experience.

Think the best option you have now is to set-up a tank for ADFs. Good luck !
