    Default Too soon to introduce?

So, as some of you know Laputa has been sick, she just got a clean bill of health today, no parasites or anything, she's been eating off and on so I just have to watch her on that. Only took her 3 months to get better. Phew! Well, I saw a cute tiny little 1" tree frog at petsmart about a week ago, and he's been in a hospital tank as well away from Laputa and he got a clean bill of health from his poo from the vet. They are both parasite free! I would like to let them both free in their new 18 x 18 x 24" enclosure now, but do you think it is too soon to do so? I named the new guy Marven, and he is so adorable! Please let me know what everyone thinks! I want to set up their habitat today so they can get some roaming time instead of being in a cramped little tank!

Thanks for the advice in advance!!

ps. I think Marven is a male, so I named him marven, but I think he is wayyy too young to know for sure!

    Meet Marven!!

If you have sterilized the larger enclosure and both frogs got a clean bill of health by vet guess it's OK . By the way, what is size difference between them? If Marven is around 1/2 than Laputa or smaller... he could become a snack .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

This is a 'support reply' !

If "Laputa has been sick, she just got a clean bill of health today " and was sick for 3 months.
    This is a though call.

Amy, you have been through a lot with her and have done a great job !
With out your care she would not be ......here !

You are questioning this move???? Go with your gut! Maybe it's too soon?
After all this time ? a few more days will not hurt.
Plus it will give "Marven" a longer adjustment period.
Be sure to quarantine Marven, at the very, least 30 days.

    vs

Don't under estimate how well you know your frogs If you think it's time ( and they are both acting stress free) - then go for it. As Carlos has , expertly, suggested be sure there is not a large size difference.

They are both doing very well. Laputa has, for the past I'd say 2-3 weeks been the color she was when I got her. Rarely has she been the dark brown that I have seen her at. I feel it in my gut that Laputa is ready for a larger home. When I let her roam the empty tank (which I actually did put a decoration in there just for her next to her hosp tank, it looked like she missed being able to hide in a more "well hidden area" and I felt bad for keeping her in that tiny tank for a long period of time. I've seen Marven eat the pinhead crickets I give him and he even eats the calcium covered. And, with success, Laputa has been eating them as well! I've been using them in her tank for the last few days and she's been gobbling them up! I even watched her eat them. I will, however, more than likely put her in a tank at night inside her enclosure because I still want to make sure that she is eating. This is my only concern and being able to watch her this last few months, I know what she looks like and acts when she doesn't eat, she has been more mobile than I have seen her in a very long time. She's ready to graduate her hosp tank!

Besides, if you had this home wouldn't you want to explore?

As far as size, I believe Laputa is about 2' and Marven looks to be about 1" I know he is half her size, but I dont think she could get him into her mouth.... And thanks again for everyone helps getting Laputa to feeling better!!

Even assuming that's 2" and not 2', that would be too close in size for me. While cannibalism isn't the norm for these frogs, half the size is still in the very real danger zone (disturbing photographic evidence for the strong of stomach https://pantherfile.uwm.edu/hoebel/w...42(1)85-86.pdf). The small one just has to be small enough that the big one thinks it can eat the small one for a potentially bad and stressful encounter.

    Amy,
Brian is , of course , right. Laputa looks bigger than 2"? Marven is still too small ! Continue to feed him well. He'll catch up before you know it

They look real great! It's great that you will be able to share all of this experience with other members going through similar situations.
