Worried about my Green Tree frog...
Worried about my Green Tree frog...
				Hi,
I've had my green tree frog for about three months now, and over the last two weeks, her back has turned a brown color. I'm aware that frog can change their color, but this looks different. She was a healthy bright green when I bought her, and until a few weeks ago she remained that color. Her legs and nose are still green though. I know a picture would be the best thing...but I'm now sure how to put one on here. Help?

Thanks! I know this is blurry, but she kept moving around. If you need a clearer photo, let me know.

Has she been eating ok? Whats the temp and humidity like?

She has been eating very well, I'm actually a bit worried that I might be over feeding her. Speaking of which, how many small crickets should her species eat in a day? As far as the humidity goes, I have a young dumpy tree frog with her, and he is doing great; good color and everything.

That could be the problem right there. A BIG rule is to never house different Frog species together.
As for food, Your frog does not look majorly over weight to me. While frogs are young and growing they need to eat every day. I feed my adults every day and if they are not hungry then I take out the excess food. Some members feed them every 2/3 days as much as they can eat in 15min. Do you give them calcium supplement?
There are lots of members who own your frog species so im hoping they can help you more than I can.

				Hello,
Darkened skin color is often a reaction to a drop in temperature, not necessarily bad, green tree frogs in the northern part of the range experience cold spells in the wild. Sometimes as weather warms people turn down the house heat, resulting in cooler terrarium temps.
I'd give the frog a more varied diet, try espoecially to include flies and moths; I've written an article on this species which has links toothers on collecting insects, etc.
Good luck and enjoy, Frank

				Thanks so much everyone.
I don't think that it could be because of the dumpy I put in with her, it has only been in there for about a week now, and she has been the dark color for more then a month.
I used to only feed her crickets, but I bought waxworms that she is loving, so I am hoping that this will make it go away.
