Default Hi there, Granny in NC here

    Hi,

My name is Laurie, I'm a 44 year old grandmother of 3. I'm very hands on and my grandchildren spend at least a little while with me daily studying, enjoying, and caring for the various pets. My oldest grandson (9) graduated to his own snake a few weeks ago. My youngest granddaughter (4) got her own baby scorpion a week ago from one of my own mothers. All 3 children also have hermit crabs, the boys also have a trapdoor spider each. (My granddaughter had asked for one also and 3 were ordered, but when she saw how vicious they can be, she begged me for one of the baby scorpions). They do not interact with any of their pets w/o adult supervision, usually mine. I'm not your average grandma.
I do enjoy cooking, baking, gardening, cake decorating also. But with all the pets I have (see profile), animals take up the majority of my day.
I LOVE talking about my pets and others'.

That is quite the menagerie. Now all you have to do is add some frogs to that and you'll be all set.

Wow! Seventeen dogs? That alone would be a lot of work. Also, your 44 and a grandmother? I am 44 as well. Wow!

Anyway, welcome aboard! I am looking forward to reading your posts.

Yes, the animals are a LOT of work. On weekdays I do it alone and the hubby gives me the weekend off usually.
I certainly didn't WANT 17 dogs and am constantly looking for homes. Most are drop offs. In addition to these, I also leave a 5 gallon bucket full of food for the strays that are too wild to get near.

As far as being a 44 yr old grandmother, all I can say is I had my daughter when I was very young. I was actually 36 when I became a grandma.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I bought a pacman frog this past weekend. He's a cutie. Well, IT. I'd love to add a pyxie soon, I'm confident I can handle it's care.
I want a White's, but they seem to be a little harder to care for. I have to do a lot more research before I get either.

    Thank you for the welcome.

I think that frogs being "difficult" to keep is a myth. We use the word difficult to replace what would be a lot of other words, like; time consuming, expensive, diligence needed, etc. In truth, it sounds like you are very dedicated to your animals, and thats all you really need. As long as you consistently care for the animals, i.e. feeding, changing water, cleaning tanks, etc, they are not at all difficult to keep (even the truly "difficult" like darts". It's really just about the amount of time you're willing to put in. Anyways, it sounds like you have plenty of experience caring for animals, so i'm sure you'll be just fine. Best of luck with the pacman!
