Couldn't find a recent, up to date thread for this. . .
It has dawned on me on how few photos I've posted of my own froggy friend. So here. . .
This is my female Pyxie's new(ish) living quarters, an exo terra - 24L 18W 12H.
I'd still like to add some fake, vine-like plants on the floor, but she at least seems to be happier with the wider floor space than what she had in her old 15 gallon long tank. And I love being able to get into it and work (changing water, taking Frog out for feeding, etc.) without having to move the infrared and the fogger off first. Love those front doors. And speaking of foggers, I recently acquired my first Hygrotherm (bought the fogger with it of course). I was rather skeptical about using the thing, but I gotta admit it's great. No more worrying about keeping temps and humidity within range. Woot! Humidity is set to 80%, temps mid to high 80s during the day, high 70s to low 80s at night. I just adore the night temp drop feature; I could kick myself for not getting one earlier. Also there's a submersible heater in the water basin that keeps the water in there in the low 80s. Always seemed to help her digest better that way.
(BTW that clear, sticky stuff around the bottom of the cage is vaseline. One year my Pyxie's tank had an infestation of ants. Yes, ants! Frog was, fortunately, unharmed, but I put vaseline all around the bottom of the tank with the hopes of keeping it from happening again. Hasn't since.)
And here's the resident of honor. Name, "Eleanor." Seemed like a good frog name at the time anyway. She's such a great animal. Never had any issues with her, always eager to eat when feeding time comes 'round (there's a reason I have the warning "WATCH FINGERS" labeled on her cage lol). I've also got 6 tarantulas (started with exotic pets as an aracnophile) and a leopard gecko, but if, for whatever reason, I was forced to part with all but one of my animals, there's no question as to who would be staying. I can only estimate she's at least few years or so old now. I got her back in 2009 (as far as I can figure) and she was already an adult then. Bought her online from a guy on the Arachnopets (formerly Arachnoboards) forum.
Now show me yours.
