GREAT PHOTOS!! This is a "GREEN TREE FROG"
does that light have to stay on all night?
No you can turn it off at sunset. ALSO...WELCOME TO THE FORUM! Feel free to introduce yourself in the INTRODUCTION section!
it has not eaten yet. but there are a few crickets in with him. and he wont go down to the floor of tank yet.
He will it late night/ early morning.... hes just stressed from transportation/handling..give him 4-5 days
is probably mad because i caught him
Wild caught guys will still eat.... i have 4 wild caught ones that came from north carolina yesterday... they will eat =P
I'm sure he will but he has found a favorite hiding spot already.
and it needs to be super humid right? and should i get an under tank heating pad to keep the humidity up.
Nice setup!
I'm not sure about the humidity, but I am 100% certain someone else here will give you advice on that. If you want, I can contact some of the experts on here to give you a bit of advice too.
Yes, that's an American Green Tree frog (Hyla Cinerea.) They make very fun and interesting pets.
Make sure any crickets you give him are smaller than the space between his eyes. For tree frogs, I'd recommend dusting the crickets 1x a week with both a Calcium mix, and a Multi-vitamin mix. You can buy both of these products at your average petstore in the Reptiles section. In case you don't know how to dust, it's very simple: Place the crickets in a bag, place a pinch of the dusting mix in with them, seal the top of the bag, shake the bag until the crickets are either fully or partially coated in the dusting mix, and then simply place the crickets in the enclosure.
Also, I must strongly enforce this, but be VERY careful about closing the lid of the tank at every feeding/handling/cleaning/etc. These guys are master escape artists, and believe me, having a runaway frog is not fun.
I do recommend putting the wallpaper on the sides as well for the first few months, because it helps lessen stress in frogs, and makes them feel more secure. You may want to pick up a cheap humidity tester or Hygrometer for the tank, as well as a thermometer. Otherwise, your setup is perfect.

Agree with Caspian about cricket size and covering back and side of enclosure. Still; recommend to administer the CA and vitamin dusting on different days with a day in between. Reason is that if not at proper levels, the vitamins can interfere with calcium absorption. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I've misted it quite a bit yesterday to get the tank nice and humid I will say one thing that compressed soil sucks to get started but its all good now I might eventually set up a waterfall but I don't think I'll need it
Nice pics
thanks I'm lucky to have such a nice camera to take photos with.
Eventually when you get sick of plastic plants and want to introduce a waterfall to make it aesthitically pleasing we can teach you out to build a vivarium and get all live plants... YOU WILL need a bigger enclosure though. However, thats when your ready for the next challenge =P
yeah I'll wait on that one
how do you sex them I want to name it but what an appropriate name gender wise
