By Coco you refer to Coconut fiber? If you do, then I'm all with it. It's safe, natural, and only needs to be refreshed once a month. For water, just use a very large water bowl, or an aquarium divider sealed with aquarium grade silicone sealant.

If you do decide to go with water, use large and optionally flat pond stones for the very bottom, which are too big to be eaten. I don't recommend gravel, it can be ingested by the smallest of frogs, let alone an African bullfrog. I recommend a strong filter, like a canister filter or Fluval U underwater series.

Yes, I meant Coconut fiber... I keep my mine in tubs in a rack, Could I do daily water changes With no filter? Are there any advantages to one or the other?

Yes, 100% daily water changes, or water changes every time your frog (for lack of a better term) pooped in the water would suffice.

Honestly, you can do so much more with pure land. You can add plants, stones, and a lot of decor. Having an almost full water tank, you can't do as much (typically) unless you have a 50/50 setup, or are willing to use live plants and spend quite a bit.

However, I'd hear the advice of at least one other person before deciding. I'm no expert.

Both! Do either a half/half or a 60/40. You can even just use coco fiber and a large water dish.

they need both - coconut fiber and water, some will spend majority of their time in a water, others would rather dig deep for most of the time, but will use water as well . you don't need a filter and can opt for daily changes, even with filters you will need to change water very frequently, have you seen the amount of poop they produce? lol in a rack system i would do coconut fiber as a substrate and water bowl big enough for a frog to move around and daily change it, that is how i keep mine, but not in a tub. You can't use just water as a substrate these are not aquatic species.
