I am planning on setting up my old whites set up for darts
and I found a Bio-luminescent mushroom Kit online and it seems like a pretty east thing to do
but it will take time to get results. 3 months.
The kit says that the best logs are hardwoods and the greener the better. (meaning fresh cut)
and even soaking in water over night is recommended.
The kit I bought has a set of inoculated wood plugs and plain paraffin wax candle.
You drill 1 inch deep holes with a drill bit that is slightly larger than the plug.
in a diamond pattern on the log then tap in the plugs flush with the log surface and once done.
you can melt the wax in a small pot and brush the wax on the log to cover the plugs to seal in
the moisture.
So anyone here have any experience with these.
I am sure they are safe for frogs and that is why I would like to use them for darts
as darts are small and may not damage the mushrooms. Like larger tree frogs.
The 3 months will give me time to get fruit fly colonies established
I will reserve those questions for the feeder forum.
