Hi! I'd like to ask if I can keep two frogs in tank with following dimensions: 74cm x 29cm x 35cm(29,13" x 11,42" x 13,78"). As You can see, the dimensions are very close to 20L gallon tank(19,84 In fact). I've read that in 20L I can keep 3 ACF. Is it truth?
Another thing is filter selection. I can afford only HOB filter, but I don't know if it is good choice because of sand substrate. Frogs will put up the sand into the water column and I don't want it to be sucked by the filter. Anyway, better will be filter with flow 1200 litres per hour (317 US Gallons) or 800 litres (211,34 US Gallons) Both have very well-regulated flow so I'm about to buy the first one. As filtration media I intend to fill the whole filter with bio-cermics and put some prefilter to the sucking tube. These filters are produced by quite good(in my opinion) Polish firm and their names are: AquaEl FZN-3 and FZN-2. I don't know if they are available abroad
.
What do you think?
PS. I think that my post was understood completly. If you can't understand sth, just tell me and I'll try to clarify it.
According to http://www.frogforum.net/care-sheet-...are-sheet.html 3 are OK in 20L; so you are good. I've used foam pre-filters slipped into Hagen's Aqua Clear HOBs intakes when breeding fish to prevent fry's being sucked in. When used like that, you have to pay attention to foam pre-filter cleanliness, and squeeze dirt/sand out in small pail of tank water as required (day's to a week depending on tank). If you don't and foam gets clogged you run risk of damaging filter pump/impeller assembly. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
OK, thanks for your reply. And what about the filter? Am I to choose the bigger or the smaller one?

Hi,
just to prevent confusion for other people who are interested in ACF keeping: your tank is close to 20 gallons (~ 75 litres), which is about the minimum size for three ACFs. 20 litres (~5,3 gallons) would be too small for even one ACFI hope you don´t mind.
Amphibians kept:
9.10.3 Hymenochirus boettgeri
2.4.0 Xenopus laevis
0.1.0 Hypselotriton orientalis
3.0.0 Hyloxalus azureiventris
4.1.0 Pipa parva
2.1.2 Bombina orientalis
1.0.0 Ceratophrys cranwelli
2.2.0 Bombina orientalis

Ok guys, thanks for responding, but I still don't know which filter would be right. In my opinion Aquael is better and looks better than Aquaclear.
I found it on ebay. Aquael Versamax FZ - 3 Hang On External Aquarium Fish Tank Filter | eBay . In Poland this firm is said to be very reliable and everyone recommend it, moreover their filters are commonly available.
Which will be ok(FZN-2 or FZN-3)? I know that prefilter will reduce flow a bit, so I can't decide. Won't the FZN-3 be too strong? I rather don't want to have a river in my aquarium![]()
