Default New Giant Pyxie doesn't look quite right?

Hey guys i just ordered a new giant pyxie and spent good money on him. When he showed up he looked a little different then my other pyxie frogs, i think it was partly because he was just a little skinny but i want to see what you guys thought. Does he look like a legit Giant Pyxie to you guys? Like i said i already have two other giant pyxies and they are female and doing great so i think i have a good idea about the species.

The last picture on the right is him next to one of my females so you could see the difference. He is pretty good size but his colors look a little different and the ridges on his back seem a little different to me.

backwater reptiles i thought it wasnt aswell and they insisted it was. I have two others that i got from them and they are true giants. I am going to email them and try to get the correct frog i spent good money for a African Bullfrog giant. Thanks for responding i had a feeling he wasnt a giant.

I emailed them asking if they would exchange it and if they could send me a pic of the frog before hand. They were very helpful and understanding yesterday! I really hope they let me exchange for the real deal spend good money for a male giant

Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Wow!! Another new member with a Male Dwarf bought as a Giant. Backwater needs to be reported for this. HerpGuy is 100% correct. We get someone here that has been ripped off almost weekly.

They know what they're doing. The problem is - people buy animals before doing their research. A simple Google search would've shown a massive list of complaints. I run a private business and I can comfortably tell you I don't buy anything from anyone without a credible source giving positive and thorough information. Backwater does the "one happy customer per 5 screwed ones" so it creates confusion as to their honesty and blends conflicting information.

Like you've said, this is a daily thing I also see on here and I haven't even been here very long.. Heh.

request a pic of actual frog that is for sale, clear shots from different angles, and if in question post pic here for us to confirm.

I agree with you and Herpguy, it's getting quite ridiculous, and it's seen at other places as well.

I'm pretty sure that one in the pic is p.edulis too. You can tell by the shape of the face. I think they kind of look like Simpson's characters.

This looks like one of the Tanzanian imports, that most of the online retailers are advertising as giants. Imo they look different than the edulis, closer to a giant except for the all yellow belly. I had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago with a reputable online retailer, needless to say they lost my business.
At my local pet store they had two giants when I was in there a month ago, I believe $40 each and 6 inches. I could check again and take some pictures if you might want one? I would only charge 40 plus actual shipping.Good luck with your search.
