I am a new care giver of frogs. I love frogs every single frog in fact. I have three fire bellied toads I got at a large box pet retailer. I first got two of these guys a few months ago and was told that a 5 1/2 gallon tank was plenty of room. I soon found out I was given lots of misinformation from these "professionals". My tank is half water half aquarium rocks. I got another one today and think I need a larger tank. I was shocked today when I went to purchase a third fire belly and the lady reached in and just snatched this lil guy up in her bare hands I had to tell her that is not the proper way to handle these guys. I advised her that her skin was toxic to the frog as well as she traumatized him by not using a net to handle him and she could get a skin rash from handling the fire bellies. She seemed unconcerned and just said "oh sorry that's how they told us to get them out" I am hoping to hear frog calls though I don't think I am ready to attempt breeding. I have read the article here about fire bellies and am hoping someone can offer more info about ways my tank should be set up and decorated. I took to the internet today to gain education about the care an environmental needs for the frogs I have. That led me to this site and to me becoming a member today. I look forward to learning a lot from you guys and hopefully learning enough to share with new members myself one day.
