I just got my first Darts a trio of juvenile Mint Terribilis and I think i grabbed the wrong type of flies. The breeder I got my frogs from was out of flies so i went to another booth and they had 2 different cultures but they both looked exactly the same and it turns out the ones i got are the D. Hydei variety of flies. My new froggies are a little over an inch long are these flies to large for them or should they be ok. They seem to be eating them but not with the enthusiasm I was expecting. I have also only had the frogs about 24hrs so its probably because their still a little scared from the move. But i really want to make sure i have everything right for them.
i think the frogs will be fine, dont feed as many if they are
bigger flies and the frogs are probably still stressed if you
had just got them.

Congrats on the new frogs! Any pictures yet?
yes i cant seem to stop my self ... they are just so photogenic.
Beautiful frogs thanks for sharing!
Congrats on your frogs; hope one day can set-up a vivarium for these species !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Terribilis are some of the most savage eaters I've ever seen. If theyre not eating aggressively its probably stress from the shipping / move. ive seen the, tackle each other for a single fruitfly. They'll eat anything they can get into their mouths. Hydei ff are perfect. My santa Isabel sub adults are about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and they're eating them. You're in good shape. Terribilis will actually refuse small food offerings like melanogasters if they're not starving. Once they're fully grown you can treat them to pinhead crickets but don't make it too often or they'll refuse hydei. Cricket feedings are expensive as a regular staple.
Thank you they were a little more "piggie" with the flies tonight when i put them in. They seem to be settling in nicely, the larger two were hopping around all day and were quite happy to gobble up a few flies when I fed them. The smaller one still tends to hide when I lift up the lid so it took him longer to come out and eat. Im sure in a few days they will be little fly vacuums
Another factor that could have an impact is the amount of flies fed, especially if they are larger than normal. How many did you place in the vivarium in a single period?
I've been putting in about 30 dusted flies at a time.
The general rule of thumb is to only feed what the frog can eat in around 30 mins, so if they are not eating as aggressively then that will lower the amount eaten in that time. I would recommend gradually lowering the amount fed by one per feeding and see what they are comfortable with.
