4 film cans should be sufficient for pair. Since the tads are carnivorous, they have to be deposited into separate locations. They usually reach sexual maturity around 8 months but males have been known to call sooner. Younger breeders tend to "screw up" often so don't be discouraged. At first They lay eggs in weird places. The male forgets to transport tads. The female disregards feeding the tads. The male may not fertilize the eggs. Etc... They're not the brightest amphibians but once they get it right, stand back and prepare to raise multiple clutches simultaneously.
Don't forget to supplement calcium powder and vitamins. I use Repashy cal plus and herptivite alternately. Once every 3-4 weeks they get vit A dusting. Once they start breeding and feeding tads, I'd dust with vit A every 2-3 weeks. The regimen seems to work well.
