    Default Do FBTs Eat Plants?

I want to get a philodendron wend imbe for my FBT vivarium but I read that they are poisonous if ingested. Will FBTs ever eat plants, or is philodendron safe to keep with them?

philodendrons are perfectly safe to your frogs. they won't eat them. you are correct though, philos are poisonous if ingested, but so are about 95% of the plants we use in vivariums. the only debate is whether or not crickets roaming the tank which munch on the plants will indirectly poison the frogs if they eat said crickets. to my knowledge, there has yet to be a documented case of this happening. if you use the glass bowl feeding method to feed the frogs crickets, then that takes the whole worry out of the equation.

Do all crickets eat the plants? Is there any way to prevent this from happening so the frogs can hunt the crickets themselves?

i normally feed a "few extra crickets" that will roam around the tank for a day or so. but i have never witnessed one eating the plants. nor have i ever seen bite marks in the plants. if you don't over feed the frogs, you should never have to worry about that. the crickets would need to be in there for several days before they would possibly start feeding from the plants.
