    Default White Tree Frog Help

Morning guy`s, just noticed my wee frog, looks not so good, any idea`s ?

    Temp`s: 80`s

    Humidity: 70

food : Not eaten in over a week

His skin looks good as normal but his mouth looks to have some sort of mucus and there a gap between jaws.

I`v had him for around 3 years without any problems

    Thank`s for reading my request.

    Hi,
Looks like shed skin that has dried and he wasn't able to swallow it....
Maybe get another hygrometer to make sure your humidity is really at 70%. You can also give him a soak in warm (treated tap) water to help loosen it.

Thank`s Bolisnide, i`v done as you said and he`s fine. The hygrometer is ok, so not sure why his skin was dry ? i`v replaced the batteries just in case.

Much appreciated for your time and help

    You're welcome....
He looks good. I am curious about the temps, you said in the 80's? Too high could dry out parts of the enclosure? 82 F is the highest I keep my white's enclosure during the day, and about 75 at night. But they can withstand higher temps.
    Just a thought.

Thank you. I might have it, the end of the temp gauge is 5 inches from the top of the glass, its 18inches total... sorry all the rest got deleted, image to explain lol.... where should i stick the temp gauge ? i v just changed the tank a couple of weeks ago. Looking at it now the gauge maybe too close to the lamp and i`v two canopy`s now, piss poor..... Ventilation I`v removed one of the canopy`s, for one of the lamps if needed ) ... How far down should i bring the gauge...he`s just jumped of that bit of wood, looks to be in hunting mode..... geez i`v messed it up for the wee falla

What is that on the top of the screen?
Looks like huge beetle of some sort.

    BTW

I place my sensor in the middle of one of the sides of the enclosure.

I love that I can practically hear your scottish accent!
Okay, that big boy needs a bigger enclosure, when you can afford it. it looks fine for now, he's got places to climb, which is good.
But, there is no way to have a proper gradient of heat in that tiny cage, it's just hot all over. He needs more shelter too, like a shelf of bigger potho plant (a real one if possible?).
I would also recomend that you cover 3 sides of the enclosure with a towel, or brown paper. It will help him to feel more secure.
And you do need good ventilation, so glad you removed one of the canopies.
    Otherwise, it looks good.
You obviously are smitten with the frog, and he's well fed. Is that a black field cricket? is it a wild caught insect, or something available for purchase? Just curious...

Oh, and like the above post, the middle side of the enclosure is good placement for the sensor.

Thank`s Louis, i`v put the sensor where you suggested. It`s a cricket who just had its last shed, it`s been eaten now.

    Aye so ye kin lol

Yes i agree with the tank , i had to juggle things about when i got an unplanned Tokay, i`v got plans for the wee frog, `ill be getting him a female soon too.

I`ll pop over to the garden center for a Potho plant and get them sides covered ( i should have already done this as it`s been mentioned already )

Aye a black cricket, i get them small from a local pet shop, you get more this way, then feed them up.... i`v got a colony of cockroaches on the go, so looking forward to seeing how he reacts to them.

An 18x18x24 (inches, sorry don't know what it measures in cm) exo terra would be a good size.
I found one one sale recently for 79 usd at a store called petsmart in the us.

That`s a really good price for a store, i`ll have to use E-Bay and Gumtree for find a good deal. Reptile shop`s and the main store, its Pet`s At Home in the UK, simply charge too much. Myself, i`d say they take advantage and exploit us.

I`ll have him in with a big girl soon

    Thank`s again, we appreciated it.

    Sounds great.
Just make sure you quarantine his new girlfriend for at least 30 days.
You'll have two enclosures, and it's so important to not skip this important step (trust me).
