I thought I may put up some updated pictures! I did a nice 75% water change just for the heck of it today to get the nitrates nice and low and I removed 90% of the duckweed.
My plants are growing pretty well and the tank has filled out nicely. It's still not perfect (to me) of course and I would like to upgrade my 40B to a BIG tank (thinking 125 gallons+) but I have to wait because my landlord informed me that aquariums violate the lease for my townhouse which I recently relocated to be closer to work ... *seriously* ... so I am stuck with what I have until I buy a house (I was able to talk them into letting me keep my current tanks).
I am pretty sure I have three plump lady frogs because none have 'dirty hands' though my albino did for a while but now he (she) doesn't and I've not heard a single peep from my frogs. So no dirty hands and no mating call I have to assume it's a trio of females.
Everyone is pleasantly plump and they all probably need to go on a diet.. these guys down nightcrawlers, crickets, and reptomin at a ravenous pace.
So in one year I've gone from a 20 gallon tall with frogs in an uncycled tank with ammonia, learning that large rock substrate sucks and sand is better, having my albino frog jump out of the tank and go on an adventure, a thermometer exploding in my tank and cutting my hand and making a huge mess.. and probably other tribulations trying to educate myself having to keep these crazy little guys..
This seems like a lifetime ago, they certainly grow up fast..!
