I just stumbled across Frogforum whilst browsing google images for that bright green rainforest frog, its being used in an ad. for some programme set in or about Africa.............and I'm not sure that it's from Africa at all, I thought it comes from south america (I'm still not sure ?)..........the bullfrog caught my eye, a fine creature !!
I am 55 yrs old (today......yes april 1st, and I've heard them all !), and i remember as a child my dad (a botanist) kept a tank on the toilet window sill in which we had 3 african clawed frogs(toads) , they froze in the winter of 62 or 63 ? but dad revived them m to m............ one big fat female called "Tubby" lived for many years more, my chore which i carried out willingly was to dig for worms, wash them and feed the frogs each day.......... we adored those frogs...............and the axlotyls and the toad and a slow worm in the greenhouse, and abandoned squirrels, and rats, birds, owls..... we fed wild squirrels and foxes by hand........... there was something very comforting watching TV with a squirrel asleep under your jumper, curled up in the armpit............ Tubby outlived them all !![]()
