    Default I want a pacman!

So after I have been dealing with my fire belly toads and tree frogs, I really want to add a pacman to my collection of lovely critters. I have a 10 gallon tank I could use with a screen cover.

I read the care sheet and was wondering what is better a heat mat or an over head heat lamp. Also beside coco fiber (Eco-earth stuff), a water dish, and plants would I really need anything else?

Also where is the best place to purchase one? I don't plan on getting anything until my guppy tanks are gone and I can setup the enclosure to the right parameters.

One last question, it really has nothing to do with the post but I was on YouTube and saw someone feeding their pacman a live mouse, is that safe? I mean even at the zoo everything was frozen and tong fed. I'm just curious.

Heat mats are very inneficient; can get a red lamp and run it 24H on or a ceramic heat emitter.

Temp & humidity gauges, background or similar paper to cover back and sides, lot's of food .

    Mike sells them on forum.

No, mice can bite frog when attacked, then wound can get infected.
Hope this helps and good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

If you buy a Pacman it will most likely be a baby and you wi want to house it in a smaller enclosure until it is large enough for the 10 gallon. Buy a medium critter keeper and place a UTH made for Hermit Crab enclosures and place it on the back of the keeper. Cover the rest of the zides with static cling terrarium background to add security to the frog. Cover the vented lid with Saran Wrap taped over the whole lid except the vents on the sides. Cut a hole in the Saran Wrap where the clear access lid is in the center of the lid so you can feed the frog without disturbing it by taking the whole lid off. Don't forget the temp and humidity gauges.

This kind of housing will help you care for a baby much easier and it will grow rapidly!

Ok now I'm going to tell you that YouTube is not a viable source for information. Yes you can feed an adult Pacman a live adult mouse. Is it safe? NO! The adult mice can and will attempt to defend themselves and can seriously hurt your frog. If for any reason you deside to offer a live mouse as prey it should be a newborn pinky or a fuzzy. They are defensless and cannot harm the frog.

That being said I see no reason for offering live mice to your frogs. Aside from a WC Ceratophrys cornuta most acman frogs will accept frozen/thawed rodents willingly.

I use a heat mat and tbh they're not very good, i have the correct temp in the 1st qtr of the tank and the colder end can be as low as 64f!

As mentioned by other posters no reason to feed live mice to your frog, the 'people' on you tube who video this do it for there own gratification not the frogs.

Thanks for all the help and advice. As it turns out, I have to put off the pacman for a while, I saved a slew of grey tree frog eggs (I think?) and mom, so I am at mass capacity at the moment.
