So I went on vacation and while I was gone my babysitter might have (99% positive actually) didn't close the lid all the way. I am missing 3 toads. Here is my dilemma, yesterday my sister in law brought her ferret over. Would one toad kill a ferret? I know strange question but as I can't find these three it is a good possibility that the ferret could have found them. I want to be able to tell her but don't want her to panic if she doesn't have too. Thanks!
Second member this week that comes back from vacation to an unpleasant surprise. Any updates on frogs or ferret? Not sure if this will help, but here is some symptoms of FBT toxicity following ingestion: Fire-Bellied Toad poisoning Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatments and Causes - RightDiagnosis.com. No idea to tell on ferrets though; did you tell Sis? Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Everyone is good, well, the ferret anyways. No idea on frogs, I am hoping they found a nice watery place to temporarily reside until I stumble upon them.
perhaps lay out a small dish of water for them that they can crawl into?
Good idea! I'll try it!
Well, I found one. It was not pleasant, stuck in a grocery bag.
Still alive?

Sorry for frog! At least the ferret is OK.

Talk about bad day, found number two under a beanbag.I am going to assume the third is dead as well. They must of escaped earlier in the week.
So sad, I'm really sorry to hear that. Just recently I encountered an escapee. Generally, every time I clean out the tank, I put my frogs in a small feeder tank that has lots of pillowmoss. Sometimes they are able to blend in with the moss completely.
One day I was in a hurry to go to work, and hastily threw the tank back together and put my toads inside.... but I had forgotten one in the feeder tank. Not even thinking, I didn't close the lid or anything, I just put the small tank below the large one.
I was interrupted at work by my roommate who said that her cat had found one of my frogs, and had a showdown with it in the living room. Luckily she was able to get to it before either animal was harmed.
I was so devastated and angry with myself for forgetting my poor frog. I almost cried. But I am so thankful that they are okay. For added measures, I've since been putting medium-weight rocks on the mesh screen of their habitat, just to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.
I hope that if you ever go on vacation again you will find a more reliable frogsitter.
