Default can i plant them into the viv substrate?

ive now bought the plants i wanted but is it easier/ better to plant them into the floor substrate or does that make it difficult when it comes to cleaning out the viv ?

i'm no expert, but if you're going for a live planted viv you'll want some springtails and woodlice in there to clean up (deffo springtails, but woodlice added bonus and can be eaten). they'll do most of the maintenance so you'll only really have to spot clean bits of poop or debris out. i built some pots into my background and will also be growing some off the wood i've got in there, but you should be okay to plant them straight into the substrate.

sure someone with a bit more experience should be able to clear it up for you, but having the clean up crew should mean you'd not have to pull the lot out unless something bad happens

you can plant directly into the substrate. in fact, it is my preferred method. it allows the roots to spread out so that the plants grow nice and full. just rinse the plants off under running water, making sure to get all the soil off the roots, and then plant directly into the substrate and you are all set.
