Hi All, I am a complete newbie to this style of pet-keeping. I have experience with fish and planted tanks. I want to stretch my skills into another arena. My question to you all is, what are the bare necessities for getting started, specifically getting started building a frog vivarium. Like I said, I am a complete newbie so be as simple as possible with me, I won't take offense to it.
I recall when I began aquarium keeping and the mistakes I made. Mistakes are unavoidable, I get that, but if I can minimize as many as possible as well as be informed on the subject matter... that'd be nice.
And yes, I've read the e-How's and the Yahoo answers but there is nothing like a good forum to get clear answers to one's question.
Thank you all very much for your help.
Hello and welcome to FF. The bare necessities would be the enclosure, lights, pump if required for water movement, a humidifier if required, substrate, decor, materials to build false bottoms & backgrounds, plants and frogs. Recommend reading this to get an idea of which way you want to go: Frog Forum - Building Dart Frog Terrariums / Tropical Terrarium Construction and http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...aludarium.html. Lot more examples at the Vivarium section.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thank you for the response and information, Carlos. Much appreciated. I'll give that a read now and begin to get myself familiar with as much as I can.
Again, thank you.
First to identify bare necessities you need to identify what species you'd like to keep. Then you can get a more detailed answer. Darts, tree frogs , pacman etc...
