Hiya! I was wondering if anyone could tell me if my wtf looks ok. Tiny has been acting weird (looks like he wants to throw up or just yawning ever now and again). I have read about the spring disease and shedding but I want to make sure it's nothing else. Here are some pic's. not really lethargic and eats like its his last supper.
When I had Whites Tree Frog's I had one "Brownie" a female and she would do the same thing
when she is about to shed.
Other wise I wouldn't worry too much.
Btw
I would feed mostly crickets, dubia nymphs, wood lice and hold off on the wax worms for special treats
as they are really fatty.
Do you use any vitamin powers and D3 supplements or gut load your crickets?
Hello Fluffy! Tiny could very well be shedding. Spring disease symptoms includes lethargy and skin discoloration. We can rule out lethargy because frog is active and eating. Has it drastically changed skin color lately?
Here is link to their care sheet, please take a look and do corrections to frog care/enclosure as needed: Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
I've read the care sheet. He is constantly changing colors, from brown to green, I just assumed It was normal because it depends on where he is in the tank and if I have moved him or something etc.
Oh and waxworm was a treat. Main diet is gut loaded crickets.
Changing colors can be a lot of reasons.
Mood, Temp , what color of their surroundings
Quick question, vitamin supplement was on sale today and I grabbed some. How often should I dose?
As you can see supplements are greatly debated but the only one that I am aware of that you have to be really careful of is the calcium's
I am Living proof that too much calcium in your diet can be really bad. For me it caused kidney stones.
NO I don't drink tea or carbonated beverages to excess.
so I don't want my little one having that problem.
Most of the supplements are water soluble so the frog can pee out the excess as long as it has plenty of water.
Now the fat soluble ones are a whole different ball of wax. Those you have to be careful of how much.
but there isn't too many of those in like flukers supplements.
But gut loading is the best by far.
