Planning on doing a divided 10 gallon divided terrarium with 2 FBT and one small red ear slider. Setup below. I think it will work, any thoughts?![]()
I really don't suggest it. FBT's secrete mild toxins that aren't harmful to most humans, but can be to other amphibians or reptiles. Also, one will stress the other out, possibly cause food competition, the turtle may bite a leg off of the FBT, and if the red eared slider gets too big, it may eat the FBT and possibly die of the toxins in the process.
Overall, I'm strongly against multi-species tanks in both reptiles and amphibians. Why risk it when you can have fun making a smaller tank for the FBT yet be free of concern of fighting/poisoning/etc between the two species?
My Amphibians:
1.0.0 Rana Catesbiana (Bumpy Digtoad )
1.0.0 Pseudacris Regilla (Levi )
1.1.0 Ambystoma Macrodactylum (Urtham and Gargan )
2.2.0 Bombina Orientalis ( Rosa, Sasha, Aleksis, and Dimitri )
Rest in Peace, Gnag the Nameless, Chrome, and Thermidor
Agree with Caspian; mixing FBT's and turtles will probably end up bad.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Tree frog it is then. Thanks

Lots of red flags here.
RES will outgrow this tank very quickly.. they get quite large and live for a long time and would probably enjoy a more aquatic setting than what is provided above. I think a 40 gallon breeder would be the minimum for these turtles, if not an even larger tank down the road. You have to keep in mind these turtles can get 12", pretty large when you think about it. They need 10 gallons per inch of turtle and it won't stay small forever. A large adult needs 100 gallons of water, think about that!
RES needs cool water low 60s to 70F and a warm basking area of 80F to 90F.. this will cook a FBT and I doubt a tree frog will enjoy it either.
RES are predators of frogs.. tree frogs and FBT would both be considered prey to this animal. One day, at some time, when you're not looking the frog will be maimed or killed outright by the turtle, so why keep these together?
If you want a turtle, set up a tank for a turtle, if you want a frog, set up a tank for a frog.
They don't mix. You wouldn't keep a pet rabbit with your pet snake, right?
To be quite honest I think that tank would be perfectly fine for a FBT so if that were my tank, that's the species I would place in there.
