I am in need of some help. I have had a Red Eyed Tree Frog for about a month now and when she arrived, she had nose rub from shipping. I has only gotten worse and I'm not sure what to do. I've used hydrogen peroxide and neosporin without pain reliever. Nothing seems to be helping. Now she has a spot above her eye and another one on her mouth. Other than those areas, the frog seems to be very healthy. Any suggestions?
Welcome to FF! From sores and eye area swelling, it appears your frog has a severe bacterial infection. Recommend a visit to veterinary for check-up and probable prescription for a stronger antibiotic like Baytril.
Also, at what concentration and why are you using hydrogen peroxide? From what I've read, it is not suitable for frogs. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thank you Carlos for your imput. I read somewhere online that it is okay to use 3% hydrogen peroxide for nose rub. It didn't do much at all and I stopped using it and just use the Neosporin. I might have to look into a vet visit.
agree, vet visit is needed asap, as much as i can tell from the pics it seems systemic antibiotics are needed, but peroxide made things worse, don't use it. while waiting for a vet app, you need to set up hospital set up with wet papertowels instead of substrate. is it eating at all?
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
She was eating okay, but I'm not sure if she has in the last few days. I will take out her substrate and put in wet paper towels. Thanks!
you're welcome.
that is great that she is eating, but i would dust her crickets with reptiboost for a few days to get her body defenses up a bit and you should really try to find vet who treats frogs around your area.

okay I will do that. I also just called our local vet and they will have a vet on staff tomorrow that handles reptiles and amphibians.
@Lija...I took my frog to the vet and I'm so glad I did. The vet gave her an injection of Baytril and gave me topical Baytril as well. The frog is not eating though but she looks like she feels so much better now that she's got the medicine in her system. Hopefully she is on the mend. Thanks for your advise!
I really would like to hear the updates of this post. =)GOOD LUCK WITH HER =)
you're welcome! hope it all works out well and your girl is healthy in no time.

I've used neosporin on green tree frogs and RETFs. It has always worked for me but I can't remember who suggested it to me.....
Dont worry we all recommend neosporin...the the hydrogen peroxide we are all worried about.
She's still hanging in there..but not interested in eating. The wounds seem to be healing slowly but I'm worried about her appetite.
When was the last time she ate? If its around the 5-6 day mark... i would start to force feed her ...if you use crickets pull the legs off first or use worms!! Its easier for her to digest....
