What are these?!?!

I change my frogs water every day or every other day and today i just noticed these little white bug things in the water they like get in a clump and it looks like bubbles but it isnt and when i pick up the water bowl they scatter out and they dont go under water their on the top and they like jump on the water does anyone know what this is this is the second time its happend and im worried for the little guy and do not want anything to happen to it.


All those little white specks are alive and move if anyone knows what they are please tell me what they are

Springtails? They will hang out on the surface of water and can hop around pretty quick.

If so, they're useful in a vivarium to breakdown waste, some people will even add them to their tanks for this purpose (and as food items for wee frogs).

no i dont my frog in indoors but some of the moss and wood is from outside

I dont know i cant really tell what they are do you think they are they are like microscopic. Yeah i know spring tails are good but i thought they were bigger not so small these are like specs of dust almost

They come in various sizes, small, really small, and even smaller. That doesn't rule something else out though.

Mosquito larva hang out below the surface of the water, and flop around in a disgusting way rather than a cute hopping action.

Agree! They probably came in with moss and are feeding of excess nutrients .

I dont think so they could not swim under the water.

Yeah, But what if they are not spring tails they don't look like it but iv never really had any spring tails before iv only seen pictures of them online. So im not really sure what it could be if they are not.

I confirm that those are not mosquito larvae. Mosquito larvae stay normally under water, near the surface. When you bring your hand closer to them, they will move rapidly to the bottom and will come back to the surface a few seconds later.

Mosquito nymph, on the other hand, look like dark comma and stay under the surface. They almost never move.

shoot mosquito larva was my only guess. Now i am really interested to find out what they are.

Springtail or wood mites would be my guess both are very helpful to the enclosure.
