    Default Question about force feeding

I'd love to get a Pacman one of these days as I adore their colors and overall appearance (just don't have the space at the mo), but I've been reading all these posts (some old, some new) about owners having to force feed their frogs. Personally I can never imagine force feeding my adult pyxie as she's never refused food. Most of the non-feeding issues I've read usually have inadequate (too low) temperatures as the source of horned frogs refusing to eat, but sometimes the problems occurs even when temps seem to be within reasonable range.

I was wondering, is this really a common problem with Pacs? If not improper temps, what's usually the cause for the need to force feed?

I've kept two Pacman's and never had to force feed one. My recommendation is to get and set-up the enclosure that meet's the frog requirements (see Frog Forum - Care Articles for that). Then either order a frog from reputable breeder or buy one from well kept local source.

Once frog is home release in enclosure and leave alone for couple days and quarantine for 30 days or until get a clean bill of health from vet. Do wash hands after touching frog or enclosure inside before handling your other frog and do not share feeding or cleaning gear until both frogs are known to be OK..

Start feeding in late afternoon or early morning while frog is awake. Also, get couple fecal samples 7-10 days apart done by veterinary and follow up with treatment if parasites are found. If you start your Pacman the right way there is little chance you will need to force feed it. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

yep, make sure conditions are good and a frog is healthy when you get it and you probably will never have to experience force feeding. the only indications for ff are when a frog is in critical condition or you need to get meds in, so i would very strongly suggest to tong train your frog so you'll avoid problems here.
If it ever comes to it, ff pacman is way easier then pixie.
