Can whites tree frogs see red light? I bought a flukers incadescent red bulb for night time viewing thinking that amphibs can't see red light, but i noticed my frogs pupils were constricted and he wasn't moving much. All day he sleeps and doesn't move at all (which i figured cuz they're nocturnal) but at night i hear him bouncing around the entire cage. I just really wanted to watch him interact in his environment. Did i just waste 8 bucks?
I find an undersized blue light works best for nighttime viewing.
Watching FrogTV because it is better when someone else has to maintain the enclosure!
Whether or not you use a red light, he'll still sleep during the day. I've heard various thoughts on the colour of light and what colours amphibians are more sensitive to. I believe they can see red light, but they seem to find it a little less shocking at night than red tinted light.
If you want to light your terrarium at night, I agree with Johnny - what he's describing is a "moon" light.

ok, i'll pick up an exo-terra night-glo. Hopefully that wont keep him up. Just wondering, do your whites sleep the ENTIRE day? mine will tuck his little legs in to form a little green pod and not move at all in the light, unless he's touched he wakes up but then he just looks grumpy!
Becareful when buying a new bulb. Some bulbs produce a dark purple light that distorts everything. Under one of these your green frog will look red. So, make sure you get a blue bulb.
Your frog is acting completely notmal.
I bought a red bulb for night and my frog seems to stay on his chosen sleeping spot. I have to move him to wake him before he realizes it's night time. I'm wondering if he sees the red light? Or is he just needs time to get used to a light at night cause I just tbought it 2 days ago. .
