I am still new to this forum,

Unfortanetly I lost my tiger legged tree frogs. So the other day I picked up three small white tree frogs. They are doing great so far. They have been eating and hoping around like crazy. One question how often should I feed them? and how many crickets for 3 small frogs less then a inch and a half?? Also should i only feed them crickets

Hi Robert,
You have babies, so you should feed every night, use a small glass bowl, this is a great way to monitor food intake. Because you have 3 frogs, same enclosure I assume, use 2 or 3 bowls so everyone gets a turn. About 5 small crickets per bowl. Dust with a calcium with D3 at leasst 3x/wk and a multi-vitamin 1x/wk. I use the Rep-Cal products, but there are other good calcium and multi vit products out there as well (I've used the Repashy products as well, and liked those a lot).
I also like to put a few crickets in the enclosure to run around, white's are amazing and vicious hunters, and they need the exercise. Just be sure the enclosure does not contain any moss, or bark, pebbles, etc. White's dive bomb food prey and will gobble up anything that gets in their mouths along with the food item. Which of course is not good, and could cause impaction. It may be a good idea to use plain paper towels as a substrate, and change out regularly. This is a wonderful way to monitor feces, and make sure the frogs are healthy.
I feed my adult white's (he's about 3 1/2 inches snout to vent and aproximately 3 years old) crickets, cut up night crawlers, and red wigglers. He is my oldest frog, and has been trained to eat worms from my hand....
I feed my baby white's only crickets, and am trying to train her to eat worms from my hand, but she's a little skidish.
If you can find roaches (I can't find any breeders in my area), appropriately sized roaches are a great food source.
You can also feed wax worms and phoenix worms.

Curious how you lost your tiger legged tree frogs? You may (if you haven't already) need to sanitize all of your old bowls, vivarium materials, and enclosure. Disease is spread so easily between sick and healthy frogs....I have unfortunately learned that the hard way, long story.

Hello Robert and welcome to FF. Have you read this article from the forum's Care Articles section: White's Tree Frog Care?

Are White's in same enclosure as TLTFs? If so, did you clean enclosure and sterilize everything going back in, before adding the White's? Do you know what killed the frogs and have you removed that problem from habitat/enclosure? In order to prevent a problem developing with the White's, could you please read and answer these questions: Trouble with Frog Enclosure. Thank you !

Hey thanks guys. I sterilized everything before I put them in. I have a 2.0 UVB light on for 10 hours a day I keep humidity from 60 to 70 temp 72 to 82. I fed the three of them 24 crickets yesterday. You think I should still feed them today ? Also I have coco fiber as a base with a water dish. And I have 3 live safe plants in the tank. I dust the crickets twice a week with Calcium powder. The tank size is 12x18x18 I know when they get bigger I will need a bigger tank

Yes, a bigger tank is in order, the sooner the better. If you've ever seen a white's jump, they need a lot of space. and as you probably already know, they can get quite large! Females are known to reach 5 inches!

You still haven't answered what happened to your tiger legs? I saw a post only 2 days ago asking about your tiger legs? What happened? Glad to hear you sanitized everything!

Edit: Sorry, forgot to answer the feeding question. You can still feed tonight, they may not eat though. As babies, food should be offered nightly, but not 24 at once, yikes! Are you using a bowl to feed? Some of the crickets may be hiding?

I got the tLTF from a reptile show I had all the right conditions they were not eating and one day I found them dead

The guy at the pet store said feed them 2 dozen crickets every 3 days

I'm sorry about your tiger legs How long did you have them?

White's tend to eat more than they need at one feeding. I really try to monitor my white's intake, they can get really fat!
The only reason I recomend feeding daily, and feeding fewer than 24, is because this gives them the nutrients they need aat a steady pace. They don't over indulge and then not eat for a couple or three days. Babies should eat daily, about 5 smallish crickets per day. When they are adult, feed 3 to 4 times per week.

For example, (my baby and adult white's are in separate enclosures) I put 5 crickets in a bowl for my baby, and 2 to run around for her to hunt. She typically eats all of the crickets, every night. And she would probably eat more if I let her! She is growing at a nice pace, and is even getting a bit chubby. But not over weight.

My adult, I feed Mon, Weds, Fri, and Sun. Each feeding night I put 3 med crickets in his bowl, and 2 to run around. He usually eats all of them per feeding. And this guy is getting fat! I am going to cut back on his number of crickets to maybe 2 in the bowl and 1 running around the cage.
He also gets worms once or twice per week....

The only reason I like the bowl feeding method, is I know they are eating and how many. When I was feeding exclusively free in the tank, I never knew how many the frogs ate, and I also had many lay eggs in the substrate! This was a mess, and difficult to clean up. I didn't want crickets breeding in my tanks because when crickets are hungry, they eat my live plants and my frogs!

Anyway, I'm sure you're fine they way you're doing it. I'm certainly not an expert

Hey thanks a lot bolisnide I appreciate the helpful advice. I only had the tltf for about 2 weeks. These whites are crazy active I love it. I think I will feed them a little everyday or two like you said.
