It all started by finding a little frog at my dad's farm over spring break. We took it to the pet's store so they can tell us what it was and so we can buy it some food. It turned out it was a baby bullfrog which grossed me out (I'm thinking big croaking frog here when it grows up). So, my kids were upset that I said we couldn't keep it and I told them I would buy them another frog. We ended up buying two fire belly toads and they have been so much fun so far more for me than for them. I'm really getting attached and it's only been a week since we bought them. We bought a bright green the attendant said was a male and a brown with black the attendant said was a female. We named them Cricket and FedEx.
They are adorable and I am already wishing I could have more of them. I really would love to have a White's Dumpy Tree frog as well as a pacman frog. In only a week I have fallen in love with these different species just by reading and learning and seeing pictures and videos on youtube.
Anyway, for now, just our very special fire bellies are great!
My only concern which is why I joined this forum is the female making snapping sounds with her mouth. I say she is female because the attendant said it was, but I hear that brown doesn't necessarily mean female. Anyway, opens her mouth and clicks it shut a few times in a row and then stops. Is this normal behavior? Is she trying to get my attention?
