Hey!
I've been trying to find information on if boric acid powder can be used safely in a terrarium or vivarium with reptiles or amphibians living in them? I've found a few articles about people using it to treat pest problems around reptile cages, and even a suggestion to use it inside cages out of the lizard/gecko tounges reach. But nothing I've read has made me feel confident that it is indeed safe.
I'm not wanting to treat the cages, I'm asking because I received a large beautiful piece of aquarium grade driftwood that a friend had in storage that he spilled a bit of boric acid onto it in about a 1 inch area. He said to rinse it outside, hit it with the hose really well and it would be safe to use.. He was under the assumption that I'm setting up an aquarium. I want to be sure before I really get my heart set on using this piece in my new vivarium, it really is gorgeous. I haven't decided on what type of critters to keep in the viv, def will be some sort of frogs, lizards, or geckos.
