    Question A vet appointment question.

My Grey Tree Frog has an appointment Thursday and what is it like? What do they do to the frog? Sorry just kind of nervous. I never had to take him to a vet.

    Hi Jessica:

Your vet will do his/her best to give your frog the best treatment possible. Unfortunately, vets don't get a lot of frog visits. Take a fecal sample if possible, this will help determine any internal parasites. Also, provide a list of all the details concerning skin discoloration, unusual spots, cloudy eyes and unusual behavior (head tilting, poor swimming, "laziness", poor appetite, etc), if any of these apply. Don't worry!

I filled out the "trouble in the enclosure" survey and brought that with me. And a poo sample. They weighed her but handled her as little as possible and when the doc did he was pretty gentle with her, despite her continuous trying to run movement.

Okay thanks guys. he pooped today so I took in and put it in a container to take with me. The only problem he seems to have is the lump. he was being lazy more than usual yesterday but now he is hopping around a little bit. he still baths himself every night but he doesn't whip his face since he got it and doesn't chirp since he got it.

What if its some sort of worm under the skin? Or some sort of infection? Well i'm bringing a poo sample just in case. Does it have to be fresh poo?

The fresher the fecal sample, the better. Don't worry about under skin worms or infections; that's the reason you are paying the vet your hard earned $$ !

i have a suspicion that the frog is WC, am i right? fecal test won't hurt even if that is CB frog.
it is always better to check mark this one when you have a chance then to possibly have a sick frog later, you're going to the vet anyway, i would advise as you were planning to take poop sample with you the fresher the better as Carlos said.

I put Laputa in a small critter keeper for an hour or two with high humidity inside her terrarium until she poo'd. It worked. I just scooped it off the wet paper towel I kept in there for her

When I got my last Whites tree frog (brownie) She also had a small white bump on the underside of her leg.
I took her and my others that shared the enclosure to the vet and it was a tape worm
The Dr was great she handled the frogs very carefully and very confidently.
And explained the procedure to me and removed the tape worm and brownie didn't even make a sound.

And prescribed a medicated bath with good directions.

    Good luck.

    Best wishes,

Well since I have trouble seeing over the steering well, Tubby has control of the wheel and I'll have the brake and gas. The steering wheel will be like a giant hamster wheel but for frogs. I'm just kidding my cousin is driving me. He is also WC. I got Grey Tree Frog eggs from my pool and hatched them.
