So after losing my baby recently, I've been researching for another one and was curious. Are there any that get close to the size of pixy frogs? I love how huge they get but I love the color of pacmans more. If not what is the largest species and would it be suitable for a beginner? Again, if not, which species are beginner friendly? Thanks in advance guys!
Female C. ornata's will get quite large; but not to the size of a large male ABF.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
female ornate can be larger then female pixiemine is sitting at 6.5" right now, male at 5.5"
pacs are good species for the beginners, you just need to make sure conditions are right and you get healthy frog.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
C Aurita can be 10 inches it not heard of in captivity but with the right condition it can .My female ornata is pushing 6.5 inches my African pushing 3.5 very agressive

Ceratophrys ornata can get quite large. Males can get 5" with perfect care and with age. Females have been know to reach 8", but it is rare.
C. aurita can reach massive sizes under the correct conditions. Now it may be due to captive care or geographic range as well as food supply that may be the reason why theC. aurita in captivity have not reached the mythical 10" SVL. Largest I've heard is around 6" to 8".
Both of these species get large, but C. cranwelli can become large too. It all depends on genetics, husbandry, and food source. Both C. aurita and C. ornata are very beautifully colored and have large appetites. C. aurita are very exspensive and rare where C. ornata are not.
just get a pyxi/pac like this, it's a hybrid between a pac and a pyxi. see look how huge he is compared to that mouse who is obviously an adult because he is old enough to be a realtor) hahahaha
