On one side of my Pxyie's tank is an infrared light that provides heat during the day that reaches 85 or so degrees. On the opposite side is a Night-Glo bulb that gets to 81 degrees. In the middle is her water pan, which has a 25 watt heater that warms the water to 80 or so degrees. My Pxyie is currently hunkered down on the cooler side, where the infrared is usually on during the day, but it's 73 degrees over there at the mo. Is having two lamps on opposite sides acceptable? I know 73 degrees is a bit cool but with a heated water basin and a night glo on at night, she does effectively have TWO warm spots at any given time. If she's too cold will she have a enough sense to move into the water on the warmer (night) side?
This is a relatively new set up I'm experimenting with, taking extra steps for the time being to make sure she doesn't get too cold at night until summer finally gets here. Temperature in the room she's in gets to the mid to high 70s then.
Also she only minutes ago pooped.
Would not worry, animals usually have better "sense" than humans. Your frog is OK and telling you low 70s at night is more likable than 81F. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
