My FBTs have been in a 10 gallon tank for about a year. I have tried very hard to make their home comfortable. In that time period I have discovered that they prefer water over land and that they are very shy. They prefer to be hidden. My tank has a waterfall in the corner, a tall rock formation on the other side with varying heights and many small plants. They enjoy being dipped in the water with there little noses and eyes sticking up, so cute! We recently upgraded our fish tank and a shift in inhabitants freed up my 30ish gallon tank and I am wanting to give my toads more room. Problem is, I am not very creative. I have seen a lot of great ideas but not sure how to go about it.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I can take pictures tomorrow of the items that I have and post them if interested. I like the idea of having a space for fish. I know this is a divided debate on whether you can have fish with FBTs or not.
Well, the simpler the easier it is to clean. Also FBT are very hardy so you don't need to go all out. FBT create some toxins, so the fish will die pretty quickly, but you can get tiny guppies every once in a while as feeders
I recently moved my toads from a 20L to a plastic tub, and as it looks to me the frogs enjoy it a lot more due to the increased swimming area. I bought the biggest clear plastic tub i could at the container sore and cut a hole in the top for the screen mesh. The main reason i did some redecorating was to make it easier to do water changes and clean the tank, so inside the big tub are 2 smaller ones that fit inside that are planted (philodendrons, english ivy, arrowhead, palm, bamboo). between the two pieces of land there is ample space for the toads to swim around. I let the plants hang out so the toads can get out of the water. hope this helps
