if you want teh cage to getr around 22C, you can use a lanp that is built to withstand heat
and wattage, preferably one for reptiles. and keep the lamp either an inch or two from the
screen, this always had worked for me.

I've been using 2 Zoomed 25w MoonLite Reptile Bulbs and it seems as if they adjusted to the bulbs in a week. keep in mind that I've been using these bulbs prior to the R.E.T.F being in the enclosure.
There is actually some research that shows red eyed tree frogs can "see" and be bothered by the red 'night lights'
I have this info stored in the heap - somewhere. I'll try to find it and post the link here.
I remember member ViperJr ( whom I respect tremendously ) posted information here on FF about this as well. Do a FF search!
I have personally - tried the red. I have to say I believe my frog's (A callidryas and A. moreletii) activity declined when I used them.
I no long have ANY lights on at night- they are in complete darkness/ using timers. As a result of using the timer and consistency; my frogs wake up within minutes after the lights go out !

You're funny
I use night glass / binoculars..... just kidding !
Seriously........
I turn a light on (way the other side of the basement ----little 40 watt bulb) they don't go back to sleep.
I certainly don't sit there all night. ( although I would like to ) I do need to sleep !
You could use a little flash light?
Sadly, there hours are opposite ours (mine anyway )
