Venus flytrap with pac-man

I got a venus flytrap recently. I was thinking that with the humidity and lighting requirements of the plant it would fare well in the same tank as my pac man frog. It would obviously have to remain potted due the the frogs burrowing. Are these plants toxic to frogs? Has anyone tried this?

VFTs are not toxic. However, they have requirements that are not compatible with a PacMan habitat, specifically the need for very bright sun (or light) exposure for at least 4 hours of their 12 hour photoperiod.

to add to what carlos already stated, a pacman will not care about your plant as much as you do and will most likely trample it into submission. also, fly traps also need to have a dormancy period (winter time), which it will not receive in a pacman enclosure.

Yea plants in a PACMAN cage will never work thay will always find a way to up root the plants and trample them. its best to use fake plants and leave the real ones out side.

Actually Carlos they are toxic if eaten, but other than ingestion yes they are quite harmless.

Several sources of information I cross-referenced stated the plant and it's digestive enzymes were not toxic and would only cause mild gastrointestinal issues if pets (or kids ) ate them. Sometimes we find conflictive data on net; even among published scientific articles. Rather be overcautious; so let's consider them toxic .

Yes, appears an active component called "Plumbagin" has some effect in tumors and is used as part of alternative medicine treatments: Venus Flytrap.

Pothos holds up to the trampling pretty well if you really want a live plant in there. Mine have been uprooted and trampled a couple times and are still growing well

As everyone has stated this is a no go. Not because the climate would be wrong, but due to the frog beeding a different set of requirements with only 2 matching this particular plant.

The high heat and humidity is actually perfect for bothe the frog and the Dionaea muscipula, but the amount of indirect light required for the VFT will not work. Another issue is the soil and water requirements. VFTs need very mineral and nurient poor acidic soil which Coconut Fiber is not. Also the water quality for the VFT is pure water such as distilled, rain, or R/O water. The frog requires water that contains minerals and salts that will essentially kill the VFT.

Now I'm not saying 100% that it cannot be done, but it would be extremely difficult to keep both the frog and VFT happy.

i wonder if it would be possible in a live vivarium, planted off the substrate level in a pot with acidic soil under the shade of say a fern? or would a pacman climb up the background, if given one?

No they wouldn't intensionally climb up to get it, but VFTs actually need a lot of bright light which is bad for Pacman Frogs.
