Good day everyone! I'm new here, first post, etc. I've found a ton of very useful information and am thrilled to have stumbled in here!
My question for today (I'm sure there will be a multitude as I go), is in regards to setting up a habitat for tree frogs. I have a 7 foot tall aquatower (Pictured below) that is made of acrylic. My thought/plan is to set it up as either a mixed environment or a setup for tree frogs (mixed environment would be separated by a piece of acrylic and would essentially be two separate systems with something like a dart frog in the first 2 feet then tree frogs in the top 5 feet).
My questions are: Would there ever be a situation where a treefrog would enjoy a 24" wide 7 foot tall environment?! I have a friend who does acrylic work and we've already discussed getting a side of the tank off and setup as a door. The filtration system in the bottom would all be removed and would act as a drain / way to remove excess water. Lighting has been a concern, but I've found a couple of solutions (floor lamp with 6 levels of light ranging from 7' to 2'). Other question is, what am I missing/not thinking of that I should be concerned with!?
I have two of these tanks. My plan is to set one up on either end of the saltwater tank behind my bar, as additional viewing.
I'm open to any advice, opinions or thoughts!
if you have two, why not do one for tree frogs and the other for a more arboreal dart, like d. leucomelas? since tree frogs like height, 7 feet would be ideal for them. the leucs would also love the extra climbing space and would probably dig out on 7 feet of height.
as far as lighting, a decent 24" wide t5ho light should give you pretty ample lighting to reach 7 feet down, provided you plant shade loving plants at the bottom.
should be a pretty cool conversion, i look forward to seeing how it works out.
