Concerned About WTF Behavior

Hi,

So, I have three little White's Tree Frogs, and they all appear fairly healthy. However, I am a little concerned about one of them. It has been sitting in the little water bowl in their habitat for hours a day for a few days now, and I have not seen any of them do that before.

Is there anything that I should be looking out for? The little one does get out and hunt during feeding time, but just spends what seems to be a LOT of time just sitting in the water.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

When I had my Grays, they loved to soak for prolonged periods, it just happened to be what they liked to do. You're WTF may just like to soak as well, but I've read here that sometimes frogs soak themselves if the humidity is low in the enclosure. If that's all it is, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, so long as the water doesn't get too dirty between changings.

I have had them over a month, and they have not shown that to be their preference at all. They are in a provisional home right now, because I have been out of town for a week and had to take them with me, though, so it could be stress-related, potentially.

I will keep an eye on the humidity.

I was wondering the same...how your humidity level is. He may be compensating for too low of a humidity level.

Try and keep the level around 70% and he should be happy. So long as he's eating well, pooping, eyes and skin are healthy and he's acting normal, he should be fine.

The humidity seems to be fine, at about 70-80%. The little guy is more active now that it is night, but it has been a few days in a row that he has gone there, for most of the daylight hours.

There are some odd poops in there, too. They look runny and maybe slightly whitish. Is this a sign of infection?

Yes, it may be. Can you get a stool sample to the vet for testing?

Not sure what to do. What are the best bets for vets to take it to? I am not sure there is a herp vet near me. Also, what do you do for that, just scrape a turd into a plastic baggy?

Yes, just scoop it up into a baggie. Any vet can have a stool culture and ova/parasite check on a fecal sample. Try calling around to see if any vets will do the test for you. Dr.Frye does them also.

Dr Frye charges $18 for stool testing. He doesn't charge a doctors fee if you send it.

OK, so I have been watching and monitoring closely for improvement, cause I have not been able to find a stool to scoop up... I realize this is a while later, now, but I had nothing to use.

Today, I had my little one out and about, and (I think) he "pooped." It was more like when they squirt (pee?) if you scare them, but there was a dark spot of something semi-solid in it. No possible way I can scoop it up though, it was completely fluid.

I have seen him continue eating, but am not regularly finding poops, so I know something is wrong. I can't really get it tested, though, so what should I do? I have seen on some threads that there is medicine to be bought, but I don't have much money to buy everything out there.

Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.
