best place to put a dial hydrometer and temp gauge?

I know i should put it just above the substrate as that's where the frog will be ( iv put my gauge on the left side as you can see in picture 1,3 and 4) as the 50W infrared bulb at the back left side also with tree frog plant in there which one of its leaves goes diagonally under the light so will that change any difference in heating it up should i move the leaf out the way of the light so it shines straight to the substrate? here some pics with energy saving light bulb on/off to get a better picture of it.

Normally for a good overal average reading in the enclosure I would suggest placing it in the middle of the back wall about 6 cm above the substrate, but you can't do that easily with a background in there.

You could place them in this same position on the cool side, but it will read cooler and humidity wl be higher than the warm side. This is better than not having them in there at all though.

should i get a digital thermometer? and is so were should i stick the sensor in there?

Personally id get a digital thermometer and stick the probe as close to directly under the light as i could . Id also have a temp gun handy to periodically check my cool side and other places temps . A separate humidity gauge will most likely be needed the probe on most temp/humidity gauges only does temps .

All readings should be taken down low to the substrate where the frog lives. These are not arboreal so it would be near useless to take any reading high in the enclosure.
