Hi all,
Thinking of purchasing this terrarium (888 Reptiles - Komodo Reptile Habitats Front/Top Opening 60 x 38 x 46cm) for my male pyxie but not sure whether it'd be okay due to low sliding doors. I'm worried the substrate could rise above the level.
Could anyone help me make my decision by telling me anything wrong with it?
Thanks![]()
Hi Goffy! Yep, with those sliding doors all the way to bottom you will have an issue with substrate falling out and any splashing water exciting through door crack. You could glue in a glass strip across whole front creating a "dam" like wall... but why go through all the hassle? That same company sells a similar sized doorless one with top access that I think is more suitable to a Pyxie: 888 Reptiles - Komodo Reptile Habitats Top Opening 60 x 30 x 46cm. Also you could look at aquariums with a ventilated top. Not sure what size is your male; but be aware that if he grows really big; might eventually need a larger enclosure. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
yeah, I'm with Carlos here, that tank is not really suitable, you will not be able to do substrate, and if you do, it will get stuck in where door slides and eventually you won't be able to slide it properly, to sum up - it is going to be a headache![]()
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
