heat mat and thermostat question

hi iv got a ET heatwave rain forest mat 28x43cm and iv connected it up with my microclimate ministat 100 and set that all up with the sensor in the tank iv turned the dial to required temp and green light has came on telling me it is heating it up and the box feels warm so i know its working, but my heat mat is only warm around the sides and center still cold and doesn't seem to be heating up anymore whats going on

Hi Dave! From reading your post I'm suspecting the mat. Have you tried to connect it straight to the wall outlet and see if it warms up then? If it does; is heating total or just perimeter? If it works fine; would then inspect the ministat with another heater and see if ministat is OK or not.

Finally; is the ministat 100 capable of handling the mat power requirement? I do not have your unit; but the manual controller I have does have a wattage limit on it. Hope you can figure out the problem or maybe someone else chips in with more help. Good luck !
