humidity in my dart frog tank drops rapidly no matter how much i spray the tank.. if i spray any more the substrate will become water logged :/
Can you describe the cage in detail? What substrate do you use? What kind of top does the cage have? Right now my advice is to use a humidifer to increase tthe humidity of the room the cage is in so the humidity can't drop any more.
Also include whether you're using analog or digital hygrometer. If the substrate is damp and temps are maintaining, I would venture to say the hygrometer is not measuring accurately.
Hey there, thanks for the reply. I have an Exo-Terra tank, it has a clay balls at the bottom with soil on top (which is a mix of a few different things). Theres a compact light with a UVB bulb 2.0 then a 50 watt red bulb over the top of it all to keep the temperature.
i have a fogged set up in the tank at the moment to keep humidity up plus it doesn't soak everything like spraying
It's digital also Exo-Terra and I tried another digital one that goes inside the tank they both read roughly the same :/
how much of the top is covered? if it isn't, you need to cover the top, that is where your humidity is going. remember, darts need high humidity, and ventilation isn't as important as it is for tree frogs.

Ok I'll defo try that now! Thanks for the tip, I'm in the process anyways of changing the mesh to Perspex anywhoo
so i cut a piece of glass so it fits over the mesh on the outside of the tank. theres a nice rectangular groove so it fits nice and flush inside over the mesh (if you have an eco terra you will know what i mean :P
Bills suggestion should definitely retain your humidity. If it gets higher than you'd like, slide the glass over to allow more ventilation. Start with an inch of space and increase as necessary. Let us know how it goes. Please.
Thanks for the concern guys, appreciated. Seems to be holding now thanks was 80% this morning, then misted this morning and I'll update again when I get home. It's strange really it's always been fine must be something to do with the weather barometric pressure or something :/ it's not bad for my tree frogs because 60% is more manageable.
