Hello everyone.
I am new to the forums here and new to owning a frog. I purchased a local American Tree Frog. I bought this from someone that was not doing a good job of taking care of it and sold it to me. As you can see the frog was not happy. Natural wood from out doors untreated, substrate for snakes and no humidity.
Since I have owned her ( I think it is a girl she is quiet) I have changed the substate to only using moss that is moist. Mist the walls and floor two times a day. Added a mushroom about 4/5 of the way up on the right side for her to hang out. Added a large vine to hang out. Before it was only hanging on the tree but now I see her lounging in the water dish, hanging on the wall at times ( thought she does not like to get misted), and making sounds.
I feed her three crickets a day from tweezers. I am not sure if I can just dump a bunch of them for a few days yet. I see the poop and pick it up with tweezers too unless there is a better way.
Upcoming projects: Add the monsoon or another mister setup, add a fogger. All plastic plants right now and want to introduce some real plants soon.
Questions I have: What can i feed crickets to keep them alive. I have the water gel that they get but can put lettuce or something in there? 2. What is the cardboard egg crate for? just to climb or a real purpose?
