    Default ACF Breeding questions PLEASE HELP!

    My male seems to be mating with my female. But as soon as he did she just went still and flattened out, we got worried she wouldn't get air so we brought her up to the surface, will she be okay? How much mating is too much? PLEASE HELP!

    Relax =)

    She can easily lug him around to get to the surface to breathe. If she doesn't want to lay eggs, she won't. No matter how much he holds on he can't make her lay if she does not want to.

    She will lay in her own time. For the time being, start adding high quality food to her diet so she has reserves to fuel her for egg making, as it is very taxing on the body.

    Thanks! She already has a good amount on her and her food is good quality. I've heard if they mate too much it can tire and physically fatigue the female. Could a high amount of amplexing also fatigue her?

    She will be ok from the amplexing. If you feel it is too much or if you notice she is losing appetite/acting off then you can separate them easily by putting in a divider for a few days.

    They can over MATE - she should only be mated, where she releases eggs during amplexus, 3-4 times a year and with a couple months in between for optimal health of mom and offspring.
