I've been dealing with Whites Tree Frog watery, some times slimy fecal matter since 2-8-13. Some times I find nice dark brown formed fecal, but then I also see watery slimy looking fecal also. All three are eating well, shedding, growing and putting on weight, it's just a fecal issue I'm having. Has anyone with Whites Tree Frog gone through this same scenario taking this long with success?? Could it be something else causing the watery fecal and not just worms?? Below is the time table on my issues.
2-8-13 1st diagnosis: Strongyles, Mites, Giardia like protozoans (this Vet is more for furry & feathery friends)
Treatment. Ivomec 1 drop placed on back , repeat in 2 weeks. After this little change
3-2-13 2nd opinion tested Shadrack fecal, came back + for hook & pin worms, treat all 3 per Vet. (exotic Vet office)
Treatment. Panacur suspension 1 dose oral repeat in 10 days.
Metronidazole Suspension 1 oral per day for 5 days. After this, not as bad getting some formed fecal.
3-18-13 re-tested all three individually, Shadrack & Abendnego clean, Meshack + for pin worms.
Treatment Panacur 1 dose oral for 3 days – recheck one fecal in 3 wk. Vet said to mix all three fecal together and just get one test done.
Vet also stated that pin worms are not shed in fecal every time so it takes 8 clean fecals before they consider the animal "clean". He also stated that it's not unusual for reptiles and amphibians to have a minimal amount of parasites, which I understand & don't have a problem with this. Once I'm done with the meds I'm putting them on probiatics in hopes to get their little systems on track again.

Gail, when I first read the title of this thread I thought you were going to tell us YOU have fecal problems! LOL!
Sorry you are having so many problems with your frogs. I've never had problems with runny poop. I did have Shrek treated for worms when Fiona got sick. I didn't know how much he weighed so the vet gave me a dose of Panacur based on what Fiona weighed. 10 days later I had his checked again and brought him with, turned out he was a lot bigger than she was, so the vet gave him another dose and then we did it again in 10 days. All during this Fiona passed away, we got Skitter and Olive and they tested positive for worms too and we went through it all with them. It was 2 1/2 months before everyone was cleared for cohabitation.
I've never heard of anyone giving probiotics to frogs. I know that it's recommended for other reptiles. It sounds like a good idea.
4.1.0White's Green Tree Frog (OliveR, Shrek, Skitter,Frankie,Storm)
0.3.0 Cats (Isis, Cleo, Sasha)
1.1.0 Bearded Dragon (Dexter,my girl)(Luci, my boy)
Gail, what type of probiotics are you using? Is it specific to amphibians? Powder? Liquid? Other?
Thanks!
