I actually do like the idea of potting the plants.. But I do not like the carpet at all.. And yes The uth is one of my top priorities. But is there any other reason, besides too much moisture in the soil, that having a vivarium would be bad?

Oh and I would highly encourage you to adopt an unwanted boa as apposed to buying a baby. Of course do your research to get a healthy pet, but so many boas in my area are rehomed all the time because people didn't realize what they where getting into when they purchased.

Well, I'm getting a hogg island boa. Not many floating around. And I'm not a huge fan of adoption either. I like the raising aspect.

I don't like the carpet look either to be honest. I have tried eco bark and it is what I used with my ball.

I have to jump in on this one.... FIRST OFF if you want to replicate a natural environment... (Hard to do but possible), Do you plan on having it rain in the tank? Are you going to have a moonlight? Are you going to have a heating ROCK to replicate the sun heated rock in the wild. Are you going to have lots of Branches with leaves? Are you going to have a half water half land vivarium rather than just a water dish. I mean seriously if your so DETERMINED to do the natural environment you might as well go out. Second... in the natural environment snakes eat in their natural surroundings...so are you going to feed your snake in the natural surrounding, rather than taking him out of the tank and feeding him in a box for training purposes. Do you plan on handling your snake..... Humans typical don't handle snakes in the natural environment IN THE WILD.

The overall point is your over analyzing the whole entire situation. Snakes have been captive bred and handled in a pretty basic vivarium with no difficulty what so ever. There is NOTHING wrong with a heat bulb and a ceramic heater or heating pad, or having the basic UVB light. The more natural your environment you have the less your snake will like to be held and removed from its surrounding. Therefor it will be MUCH MORE aggressive. I am no expert on snakes... so if anyone has anything to say please do.. Did you want a pet snake or just an aesthetically pleasing environment that has a snake in it?
